University Dean for Strategic Initiatives

Tracy Meade is the University Dean for Strategic Initiatives in the Office of Academic Affairs at The City University of New York. Tracy oversees the Office of Research, Evaluation and Program Support for the Office of the Senior University Dean for Academic Affairs, leads the CUNY Office of Academic Affairs’ groundbreaking ASAP expansion project at Bronx Community College, and supports projects and initiatives for the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost.

Before assuming her present position, Tracy directed CUNY’s New Community College Initiative. Tracy is the principle author of A New Community College Concept Paper, and she led the team of educators who designed the new community college model and oversaw all aspects of the college’s approval process by the CUNY Board of Trustees and New York State Education Department. The college—CUNY’s first new community college in more than four decades—is now named the Stella and Charles Guttman Community College and welcomed its inaugural class on August 20, 2012.

Prior to her work leading the New Community College Initiative, Tracy was the University Director for Collaborative Programs at CUNY. In this role, she was responsible for oversight of College Now, the university’s largest partnership with the New York City secondary schools, the CUNY Middle Grades Initiative/GEAR UP program, the At Home in College program, and the Research and Evaluation unit for Collaborative Programs.

Tracy holds an M.A. in English from the University of California, Berkeley.
