The Office of Internal Audit and Management Services provides the University with management analyses through the performance of financial, compliance, and quality assurance appraisals. It renders recommendations and pertinent advice concerning University operations and programs to assist in ensuring that organizational goals and objectives are achieved and, that the University’s resources are safeguarded against loss due to waste, fraud, or abuse, as well as ensuring that the University is in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. In conjunction with the Office of General Counsel and the University Office of Public Safety, the office participates in special investigations of alleged improprieties and assists in any subsequent adjudication. The office also administers the University’s Internal Control Program, promoting internal control awareness through training programs, instructional guidance, and an internal control self-assessment process. The Internal Audit function reports to the Chancellor while the Internal Control Program reports to the Vice Chancellor for Budget and Finance.
Internal Audit liaisons with City, State and Federal oversight agencies and monitors and facilitates the implementation of all audit recommendations. In this regard, the office is charged with coordinating and preparing responses to Federal, State and City audit reports of programs administered by the University and its institutions. Internal Audit performs implementation audits and reviews to ensure that the University has complied with recommendations contained in prior internal and external audit reports.
