How do I log in to and download Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus?
- Once you have landed on the CUNY Web Applications Login page, you will be prompted to enter your CUNYfirst user name and password.To login, use your CUNYfirst credentials in this format:
- Username: firstname.lastname+last 2 digits of your employee ID@login.cuny.edu (e.g., email@example.com)
- Password: Enter your current CUNYfirst password. If you need to change your password, visit the CUNYfirst Change Password page.
- Upon successful login to the Office 365 ProPlus service, you will be directed to the Microsoft Office 365 page to download Office 2016.
- Click on “Install Office 2016” to download the application.
- Follow the steps on the screen to install the application.
How do I become eligible to download Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus?
You are automatically eligible if you are an active employee of the University’s Central Office or one of its colleges. Once installed, Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus communicates with the Office Licensing Service and the Activation and Validation Service to obtain and activate a product key. Each day, or each time you log on to your computer, the computer connects to the Activation and Validation Service to verify the license status and extend the product key. As long as the computer can connect to the Internet at least once every 30 days, Office remains fully functional. If the computer goes offline for more than 30 days, Office enters reduced functionality mode until the next time a connection can be made. To get Office fully functional again, usually you can simply connect to the Internet and let the Activation and Validation Service reactivate the installation.

What happens when I am no longer an active employee?
Your installed copies of the Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus suite will enter read-only mode. This means that, while the applications will not be automatically uninstalled from your devices, you will not be able to create any new documents or edit existing ones.
I’m an adjunct faculty member. What happens when I am no longer “active” in between semesters?
Adjunct faculty receive a grace period of 30 days upon his/her status being changed to anything other than “active” by Human Resources. On the 31st day, the installed copies of the Microsoft Office ProPlus suite will enter into read-only mode.
How can I continue to use the full version of the Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus software if I am no longer an active employee?
If you are no longer an active employee of the University, please look for alternative ways to maintain your full version of the Office suite.
