The Central Park Conservancy Institute for Urban Parks (CPC) is the educational arm of the Central Park Conservancy. The Institute’s programs underscore the role that urban parks play as cultural and environmental treasures that have extraordinary capacity to educate, enrich, and inspire people in the development of healthy, vibrant urban communities.
CPC is sharing its experience in park management and development with other Conservancies and practitioners by implementing two learning programs: an Executive Education program and a Certificate Program. The CUNY School for Professional Studies (SPS), in collaboration with CPC, will design and implement the curricula that include diverse topics, such as trash management, contract negotiation and fundraising, and community development.
The Office of Research, Evaluation & Program Support provides support and evaluation of the Urban Park Management Executive Education Program and Certificate Program. REPS is evaluating the programs’ effectiveness and impact, analyzing survey results on content knowledge, and assessing socio-behavioral gains in urban parks management using primary and key informant interviews. Our work will inform curricula development and educational programming for CPC.
