Welcome to CUNY’s Human Resources Information Systems Unit. Our team provides technical production support, and identifies, plans and implements HR information system changes to meet overall University strategic objectives.We also ensure the accuracy and protection of all HR related employee data and deliver timely and compliant information to campus partners, external vendors and to State, Federal and NYC agencies.

CUNYsmart (Strategic Management Analytics and Reporting Tool) is CUNY’s enterprise reporting and business intelligence platform. CUNYsmart contains current and historical data and provides secure and easy access to intuitive reports and dashboards. CUNYsmart, initially populated with HR, finance, procurement and student data from CUNYfirst, will continue to be enhanced with additional data sources in the future.

Released on June 23, 2017 to Senior-Level HR staff across the University, CUNYsmart includes both Staff Facts and Executive Compensation Plan (ECP) dashboards, complete with drill-down capabilities.  HRIS will conduct a formal training and demonstration at the next HR Director’s meeting, and will continue to support and empower our partners at the Colleges with system enhancements and process improvements.  Click on the links below for additional information on how to get started with CUNYsmart!

Accessing CUNYsmart:
*    From any supported browser, enter the CUNYsmart URL: cunysmart.cuny.edu
*    Use your CUNYfirst Username and CUNYfirst Password to authenticate.
*    If you have questions about accessing or using CUNYsmart, please contact Judith Ullman.

The OHRM HRIS team provides technical production support, identifies plans, and implements HR information system changes to meet the University’s strategic objectives.

Our goals include system enhancements and process improvements, which serve to empower our campus partners.  This guide (runbook) will allow end-users to produce on-demand HR reports and data audits, for their respective business unit, previously provided by the BADR team. The runbook provides detailed instructions on how to run numerous HR queries.

Human Resources Reports and Data Request Form

Use the HR Report/Data form to request Human Resources data, such as new queries, specific information, audits, updating existing reports, monthly reports correction/update, and any other HR related data. To initiate a request, please follow the instructions on the form located above.

Lead Time:
1. Standard: 5-7 Business Days – Up to 3 Data Table Joins – Single Data Source
2. Complex: 2-4 Weeks – Greater than 3 Data Table Joins – Requires Multiple Data Sources

and Data Reporting (BADR)

About BADR
The BADR unit translates data into information that is helpful for executive business decision making. More specifically, the BADR team drives and supports all activities related to collecting, analyzing and reporting key university-wide HR performance indicators. This includes developing dashboards and scorecards to track results, identify trends and provide forecasts.

CUNY eTime

What is CUNY eTime?
Branded CUNY eTime, the University’s Time and Leave Project will create a unified system for all the colleges to use that has the necessary rules, regulations and policies regarding time reporting and leaves accrued and taken, all codified by title. The new system, which will interface with CUNYfirst, will eliminate arithmetical errors in totaling hours, and provide easy access to accruals and fully auditable records of each transaction.

The HCM unit oversees systems that supports recruiting, developing, managing and retaining the University’s biggest asset – Its People.  HCM provides HR client support through talent acquisition management, workforce administration, and position controls.
