What is the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA)?
The Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) was enacted in August 2008, and became effective in July 2010. Among other things, it requires colleges to publicize the materials assigned for each course section before the term begins. As colleges come up on CUNY’s new enterprise-wide system they will be using CUNYFirst for HEOA compliance. In the interim, a few colleges have local solutions in place, and some make use of the CUNY Booklist system developed by Brooklyn College.
