Dear Friends,

I am pleased to welcome Chancellor Milliken, the Board of Trustees, the officers, my fellow public officials, and constituents of the CUNY Colleges of the City of New York for the annual CUNY Board of Trustees’ Brooklyn Borough Public Hearing at the New York City College of Technology.

On behalf of all of Brooklyn, I offer commendation and best wishes to all the presidents of the Brooklyn CUNY campuses, which together enroll more than 50,000 students each year: President Michelle Anderson of Brooklyn College, President Farley Herzek of Kingsborough Community College, President Rudolph F. Crew of Medgar Evers College, and President Russell Hotzler of the NYC College of Technology.

As a graduate of both the New York City College of Technology and the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, I am personally aware of the proud tradition of excellence and high academic standards of the CUNY system. Our borough is fortunate to have four exemplary CUNY colleges, which provide the residents of our borough and beyond with quality education and opportunity for advancement.

I look forward to a propitious outcome from this public hearing and to collaborating with all of the stakeholders of our CUNY colleges in order to continue the mission of advancing higher education through this model system.
