A Message from Chancellor Goldstein
As part of CUNY’s ongoing commitment to improving public health, including the health of its students and employees, I have established a CUNY Tobacco Policy Advisory Committee to review the University’s current smoking policy and consider expanding it.
The committee, comprising representatives from across the University, has diligently reviewed policy-related issues and is considering several proposals.
I encourage you to read the committee’s open letter and proposals on this site and share your comments in the space provided by September 30. We greatly value your input, which will assist us in shaping the University’s policy.
Thank you for your participation.
An Open Letter on CUNY Tobacco Policy to the University Community
At the request of Chancellor Matthew Goldstein, Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost Alexandra W. Logue has convened a Tobacco Policy Advisory Committee for The City University of New York. In accordance with a Board of Trustees Resolution effective January 1, 1995, CUNY currently prohibits smoking inside all facilities, including vehicles operated by the University. The Committee was charged with considering if—and how—this policy might be expanded to better protect the health of CUNY students, faculty, and staff. pdf
