This program will not be offered this year, but the
Mid-Career Faculty Fellowship Program for tenured Assistant and Associate Professors will be offered in Spring 2019
The 2015 administration of the Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE) survey suggested that CUNY faculty want more support for promotion. In response, during the spring 2016 semester, the Office of Academic Affairs piloted Moving from Associate to Full Professor, a workshop series and funding opportunity for CUNY Associate Professors. The program was offered again in spring 2017.
Separate workshop series were offered for Associate Professors at CUNY’s senior and community colleges. The workshop series addressed a broad range of range of practices that are important for professional success generally and promotion specifically.
Workshop Topics, Readings and Activities
Following the workshop series, participants had an opportunity to apply for funding aimed at helping them make progress toward promotion to full Professor.
Program evaluation includes two components.
- Participants provide feedback immediately after each workshop session. Slides summarizing this feedback for the 2016 pilot and the 2017 program are available here.
- Program outcomes (e.g., progress toward promotion) will be assessed at two points – 2 and 3 years following program participation.
