Some CUNY programs require undergraduate applicants to submit letters of recommendation in order to be considered for admission. Please see the list below of colleges/academic programs which require letters of recommendation prior to considering an admission application.

Steps to Add a Recommender

To submit a letter of recommendation, applicants should:

  1. Log into the CUNY Admission application and navigate to the Supplemental Information section.
  2. Click on the Recommendations link in the left menu
  3. For each recommender, you will need your the recommender’s a) First Name, b) Last Name, and c) Email address. You can also add your recommender’s title, and relationship to you.
  4. Choose yes or no to the Question: Do you wish to waive your right to examine this letter of recommendation. (Please note your selection will be visible to your recommender prior to any submission of a recommendation.)
  5. You may also choose to write a personal note to your recommender which the recommender will see in a notification email.
  6. Click the Add button in the lower right side of the form once you have added all the information for your recommender.

After adding your first recommender, you will have the opportunity to add another recommender, or delete any of your previously added recommenders.

You will also be able to see the status each recommendation request beside the name and email address of each requested recommendation.
