In partnership with Dance/NYC, CUNY will host a forum and workshops on a powerful contemporary dance form, physically integrated dance. This program will feature a screening of the acclaimed film An Invitation to Dance, with a talk-back with Director Simi Linton.

A series of career information events on CUNY campuses in each borough linking college students with disabilities to leaders in key industries where they will learn about various careers, employment trends and opportunities within the companies.

Elected officials, celebrities and people from all over the world will join in a celebration of people with disabilities and all they have accomplished including all the civil rights activity that led up to the passage of the ADA.

“Think Tanks ” will explore leading-edge accessible technology, authentic disability narratives, best practices in advertising, television, movies and other media to frame “Call-to Action” Summit agendas in NYC (September) and Hollywood (October).

Monday July 20th

Civic Engagement & the Disability Community

12 PM – 3 PM

Hostos College, Room C391 Building C

Disability scholars, advocates, city officials and youth will speak about the history of the disability rights movement, what civic engagement is, current issues that affect the disability community and how to get involved. This will be a good opportunity for professionals, students and advocates to learn, network and collaborate on disability rights issues. Accessible Voting Machines will also be available for everyone to test.

THURSDAY July 23rd

Renewing a CUNY tradition, more than 300 members of the CUNY community, including legislators, will celebrate equal access & opportunity through the City’s biggest “ADA Birthday Party” with fun, food and games. There will be the presentation of the 2015-16 Matthew Goldstein Scholarships.
