Committee on Academic Policy Programs and Research

This Committee deals with academic policies, programs and research, as well as the review of policies and procedures related to the research efforts of the University and the relationship and liaison with the Research Foundation of the University.

Committee on Student Affairs and Special Programs

This Committee is responsible for non-academic matters relating to students–such as student services, student life, special programs and athletics, including student disciplinary appeal hearings, student activity fees, and admissions and financial aid policies for the University. This Committee also monitors and reviews programs such as SEEK and College Discovery.

Committee on Faculty, Staff and Administration

This Committee reviews the qualifications for appointment, promotion and tenuring of faculty members, including procedures for Waiver of Bylaws for academic personnel actions. It examines future policy for the disposition of faculty and covers faculty and staff relations and collective bargaining, legal matters, Bylaws provisions relating to the administration of the University, the governance of the University and its units, Waivers of Bylaws for non-academic personnel actions, the review and monitoring of affirmative action and diversity plans and guidelines, the review of senior appointments at the colleges, all administrative procedures and policies related to the administrative operations of the University and its colleges.

Committee on Audit

The purposes of This Committee are to assist the Board of Trustees in fulfilling its oversight of (1) the integrity of the University’s financial statements, including its independent auditors’ qualifications and independence, (2) internal and external audit, (3) the University’s system of internal controls, (4) the University’s risk management, and (5) the University’s compliance with laws, regulations and policies.

Committee on Facilities Planning and Management

This Committee is responsible for the review of the planning and management of construction and rental/lease facilities for the University.

Committee on Fiscal Affairs

This Committee deals with the fiscal aspects of the University, its operating and capital budgets, policies and procedures relating to all funds, their accounting, auditing and investment.

The subcommittee on Investment reports to the Committee on Fiscal Affairs.

Executive Committee

The members of this committee consist of the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the Board, and the Chairs of each of the five standing Committees and that is staffed by the Chancellor. The Committee may meet during intervals between meetings of the Board when it is determined that it will be detrimental to CUNY to delay an item until the next scheduled meeting of the Board.

Committee on Long Range Planning

This Committee meets on an ad hoc basis to consider Master Plan and Master Plan amendments as well as all long-range planning documents and studies undertaken by the Board and the University.
