  • You must be a currently enrolled CUNY student
  • You should have taken at least two semesters of courses pertaining to your major
  • You must be able to legally work in the United States
  • Your schedule should allow you to work a minimum of 15 hours per week

Interns are able to participate in the program for up to three years or six months after graduation, whichever comes first. This is pending you maintain enrollment in a CUNY school.

Once you establish that you meet all of the requirements you should register for a CUNY Internship Programs Symplicity account (even if you already have a Symplicity account for your school).

Using the Symplicity platform you will be able to submit your profile, register for information sessions, search for current internship listings, and apply for your internship.

*Be sure to verify your email by clicking the link that will be sent to the email address you use to register. After verifying your email address, log in and RSVP for an information session. After attending an information session, you can start applying to open positions!

  1.  Visit Simplicity to create your account.
  2.  Verify your e-mail address within 24 hours of receiving e-mail confirmation.  Then wait for your account to be approved.
  3.  Once you receive your account approval e-mail, set up your log-in within 24 hours. Then create your profile, and upload your resume.
  4.  After submitting your resume you will receive an email requesting that you come to our office for a mandatory information session. All interested candidates must attend an information session and resume/interview prep session.  After attending the information session, your resume will be approved and you can begin to apply to positions posted in the job board.
  5.  You may update your resume any time after it has been approved. There is no need to contact us after you make a change. Our office will review the updated resume and approve it back into the system.
  • Begin by attending an information session offered at least once biweekly. Most sessions are currently held at our office near Borough Hall in Brooklyn, NY but are occasionally held elsewhere. You can reserve a spot by logging into your Simplicity account.
  • Start preparing documents you may need such as a resume, cover letter, class schedules, and a list of references.
  • Attending an information session is not required for the DoITT Tech Fellowship positions.

All available positions are posted on our Symplicity site and you can apply to all positions that interest you. However, you can only be employed at one position at a time.

Applying does not guarantee placement but we regularly have new positions being added so you can always apply to other positions. The time it take an intern to secure a placement in the program can vary based on the potential intern. If you register for an account and attend an information session, you can begin applying for positions immediately.

Each program has specific instructions on how to apply. Be sure to follow all instructions closely to ensure you are not disqualified for submitting an incomplete application.

  • For City Agencies – City Agencies often require different documents from applicants. In general, you should be prepare for each position with a resume, cover letter and a list of references. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
  • For DOE – The Department of Education application opens in May and can be accessed via the Symplicity site. Check the site for the application deadline.
  • For NYCHA – The NYCHA Call Center Representative position application can be submitted two ways. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
    • Log in to your Symplicity account and apply directly from the site

OR

  • For 311 – The CUNY 311 project accepts applications via the Symplicity site and holds training for Call Center Representatives during the summer and winter breaks. Check the site for the application deadline.

CUNY Internship Programs is currently seeking students willing and able to provide support to NYCDOE schools in the following areas

  • Setting up new computer equipment in classrooms and offices
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software problems in conjunction with DOE Help
  • Center and borough technology staff
  • Configuring wireless devices to access DOE network
  • Maintaining classroom servers
  • Maintaining technology equipment inventory
  • Monitoring equipment and working with Help Center to ensure timely repair
  • Providing assistance in use of technology equipment

 

Salary: Minimum $14/Hour
Interviews begin: July 2017
Positions start as early as August 28, 2017.

Attending an information session is not required to apply for the DoITT Tech Fellowship positions

Starting March 16, 2018 you will be able to view Fellowship positions by logging into your Symplicity account. All Fellowship position titles will start with “DoITT Tech Fellowship”.

The deadline for applying for DoITT Tech Fellowship positions is April 22, 2018.

About:

The Civil Service Pathways Fellowship is a joint effort between CUNY and NYC DCAS to put you on the fast track to becoming a City employee. Open only to CUNY graduates, the Fellowship is a two-year program in which you will work full time at a City agency, receive training and become eligible to take the civil service exam after the first year. Unlike other fellowships, the Civil Service Pathways Fellowship helps to prepare and facilitate a seamless transition from fellow to a City employee.

DURING THE TWO YEAR FELLOWSHIP YOU WILL:

REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduated from CUNY with a Bachelor’s between June 2017 and December 2018
  • A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Prior work, internship or project experience related to your chosen track
  • This program is only open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents.
