Over the last decade increasing emphasis has been placed on the important role that community colleges play in America’s higher education system. Prompted by both governmental and CUNY initiatives, momentum has been building to launch new programs and reforms that will increase the effectiveness and impact of community colleges on the success of students who enter the workforce or transfer to a baccalaureate-awarding school.

The CUNY Community College Research Grant (CCRG) program supports research active faculty in three different tracks:

Track 1 of the program provides support for pedagogical research. Proposals must be collaborative between two or more community college faculty.

Track 2 supports faculty and students who participate in mentored research experiences. These proposals should be based on the research of the PI and must include a mentoring plan for the undergraduate student who will be involved in the project.

Track 3 (new for 2017) supports CUNY community college faculty who collaborate with faculty at the CUNY senior colleges. The new track funds summer salary for the community college faculty and research supplies that are shared between investigators.

There will be a faculty development workshop at John Jay College on Tuesday, January 10.
